Too often, leadership is treated as a hierarchical, organizational concept rather than being rooted in family and relational maturity. This creates leaders who may lack the relational depth and experience needed to carry the weight of the community.
True elders naturally emerge in a multigenerational family context. Their focus is first on raising their own children and developing relational maturity before stepping into broader leadership. But many are placed in "top dog" roles prematurely, leading to struggles both for them and the communities they serve.
It’s time to rethink leadership through the lens of relational health and maturity.
